Malmo, Sweden. In the early 1970s the Constructors John Lennart Öberg and colleagues, Wihlborg and Engel were acquired by the Swiss company RAPID (aggressively) from AB Asbrink & Co. and led to the dissolution of the relationship with the Swedish company AB Asbrink & Co. In 1971, they constructed the RARID 15 sweeper. Die neue Rapid 15 war eine Weiter-entwicklung der Verro-City und fuehrte fol-gerichtig zur Aufloesung der Beziehungen zur schwedischen Firma Asbrink. Die Rapid 15 war dank ihrer durchdachten Technik die weitaus erfolgreichste Rapid Strassenkehrmaschine. Sie war mit einem 4-Zylinder-Ford-Benzinmotor von 32 PS ausgeruestet, hatte eine Kehrbreite von1750 mm und eine Kehrleistung bis zu 25000 m2/h. Zwischen 1972 und 1980 wurden mehr als 200 Stueck in der Schweiz verkauft. Teilerfolge gab es auch im Export,beispielsweise bei den Budapester Verkehrs-unternehmen, welche die Rapid 15 fuer die Reinigung ihrer Strassenbahn-und Trolley-buswege einsetzten. (see photo a/d bottom) Trotz grosser Verkaufs- und erheblicher Entwicklungsanstrengungen für einen Prototyp Rapid 20 mit Knicklenkung blieb der Firma der kommerzielle Erfolg letztendlich versagt, so dass man sich 1980 entschloss, den Kehrmaschinenbereich der Firma Peter in Liestal, einer Tochter der Rolba AG Wetzikon, zu verkaufen Despite great sales results of sweepers and considerable development work e.g. for a prototype of the fast RAPID 20 sweeper with articulated steering, solid commercial success was not forthcoming! In 1980 it was decided to sell the sweeper business to Konrad Peter Liestal, a subsidiary of Rolba AG Wetzikon. RAPID (AG) Aktiengesellschaft afd. sweepers was acquired in 1980 by KONRAD PETER AG. in Liestal, Switzerland. RAPID AG.sweepers have since been built and sold by KONRAD PETER AG. Among other things, Konrad Peter AG. further developed the prototype RAPID 20 sweeper. This sweeper is the predecessor of the ROLBA, K-1500 City-Cat with articulated steering.
