It is often said that it is important to work with sharp blades for fuel economy, among other things, and also for the quality of the work. But: what is sharp and what is blunt? Yesterday I replaced the above blades with new ones for the new season. With these I mowed 1 season (+/- 5 or 6 ha per blade). I actually don't think they are really worn out, but we are also only talking about a few cents per acre in cost savings if I were to double the useful life to 2 seasons. With a few drops of fuel and a fraction better regrowth, you already recoup that, right? Maybe I am crazy for thinking this way during a simple job, but I thought so and am curious how long you guys leave the blades on. Hectares per blade and to where you let them wear away.
