Schlüter Meerdere van Schluterfan

Schlüter Meerdere | Picture made by Schluterfan

International Week of Agriculture, Brussels, 1970 That used to be the name of the fair we know today as "Agribex," or more popularly as "The Agricultural Show." For the Dutch among us (and there are quite a lot of them :p), this goes on at the Heisel in Brussels When my father starts talking about Het Landbouwsalon, he always thinks back to the times when Schlüter was also an exhibitor here. This thanks to the Dereepere family from Gistel. They were an importer in Schlüter's good times. This from about 1970 to 1993. I myself had never had contact with the family, although this was on the wish list for a long time. Thanks to "De Oude Doos" (http://www.deoudedoos.be), I received notification that they had been in contact with the son of the founder Andre Dereepere. When it was Agromarkt in Gistel the other day, I had gone with them the Saturday to be part of their photo booth (I also had a diorama with miniatures there) To my luck, they got the son to come by that afternoon. This is how I found out how Dereepere came in contact with the Schlüter company, why they sold these tractors and also which ones. This photo was taken by Andre in 1970, when I suspect he was with Schlüter for the first time in Brussels. Besides the Schlüters, Andre was also importer of Bergmann, later also distributor of Fendt and Claas. The tractors we see are in the middle a Super E9500TV (Schlüter's first Super 2000TV, 8-cylinder in-line turbo engine), then a Super E which I have trouble seeing what kind of one it is, and then I suspect when I study the tractor a Super E3900. The latter we know better in Germany as Super 550. The tractor in the picture I think is even the rarer variant of this, the 550S. This type had a 4 cylinder Schlüter engine of 55hp, later 62 and even 65hp, but with the transmission from a 6 cylinder Super 650 (ZF A216) Andre seemed to have come into contact with Schlüter because a customer wanted to buy such a tractor. A visit to the factory in Freising, the way and respect Schlüter treated its (new) customers, had left such an impression that many more Schlüters would follow. Andre was at the factory one day to pick up a tractor. Once paid, he wanted to continue the journey back to Belgium, but was stopped. At Schlüter, they insisted that Andre get a good meal before he left! So many years after the cessation of production Andre still seems to have a hard time with the subject of Schlüter. Somehow the tractors have been a positive part of their lives. And that the son himself is also fond of the Schlüters is evident from the fact that after our conversation he left a folder with information that more than gives my search for Belgian Schlüters a boost!
