Schlüter Compact 850 V van Schluterfan

Schlüter Compact 850 V | Picture made by Schluterfan

"They're big, I'm small and that's not fair!" Must have thought this Compact 850V, or at least the owner. So he also put his handsome tractor on double air all around! Photo taken on the Ackertage in Unna, 2018. From day 1, the Compact has been an important series in schlüter's product range. At the beginning of the 80s, the Compact 850 (750 also existed then, as a 3 cylinder, 70 hp) was a bit like the Calimero among the Schlüters! Where many brands still offered tractors (still today) under 70 hp, schlüter only started with this power. From 83 there were no Schlüters available under 90hp! In the picture, as you say, a Compact 850V. Unquestionably one of the most popular types, of which father ever had one. Although that was one of the 800 baureihe, where it belongs to the 802. An almost indestructible 4 cylinder, 4.8liter with 85hp. As with the Supers, there was also a "Special" variant of this one. They then had a 4-cylinder with almost 5 liters of displacement and 90 hp. After less than a year and 9 tractors later, Schlüter already pulled the plug on the Special variant, because a new Compact series was on the drawing board. Unfortunately, there were no more Schlüter engines in it, but Schlüter bought them from M.A.N in Nuremberg. From then on, the 850 went through life as a 950V6. The V meant "vorradantrieb", the 6 decides on the use of the M.A.N 6 cylinder engine. The 950 will also be one of the more popular types until the end in '93. Even today!
