As early as 1970 (!) Kramer had built a prototype, of what would later become, the 1014, this was the 1214. This so-called two-way-trac was to be the future of Kramer. The design had to be able to drive forwards and backwards with a centrally placed cab with reversing device (2 driver positions), rotating seat with movable steering wheel. The 2 axles guaranteed a very high ground clearance. The machine could be steered in 4 different ways: By turning only the front wheels or the rear wheels, by 4-wheel steering, or at dogleg (all 4 wheels in the same direction). In the prototype, the six-speed transmission came from the Kramer UF1003 zugmaschine. And could be shifted in 2 stages, offroad and road use, up to and including 40 km/h, both as forward and reverse. The just newly designed engine from Deutz at the time, the BF6L912 with turbo and 115 hp was installed. The 1214 was not taken into further production but went to a collector. Instead, the 1014 entered Kramer's lineup in 1973. The gearbox this time was from a wheel loader/shovel but was extensively revised and modified. This was a powershift gearbox and as a driver had access to 16 forward and 8 reverse gears. The engine was again from Deutz, this time they had chosen from an F6L912 (without turbo). In the normal version of the 1014, the engine was tuned for 105 hp. The more expensive 1014S had 112 hp. From 1975, customers could also choose the more powerful 1014TS with F6L913 which by now had 121 hp! Of course, most customers chose this as well. Kramer would not be Kramer if this type could also be completely "upgraded" for different purposes! For example, around 50 units were sold with complete forestry equipment. In agriculture, it was more common to order your 1014 with corn chopper, beet harvester, front loader or cage for collecting corn. Despite the many positive comments from the trade press and customers, the 1014 did not sell itself and large numbers were not reached.... Therefore, the decision was made to stop all production of the 1014 in 1980, this stopped production at about 207 units. Well everyone's opinions differ a lot about the 1014, what do you guys think of the design?
