Look, there you have J. Lensveld & Zonen B.V. (Vlaardingen) × with a Krone semi-trailer, built up for container transport. Press photo. Vlaardingen-based LV (Lensveld) Shipping & Transport Group is a global player in numerous logistics disciplines, particularly in the oil & gas industry. In the Netherlands, LV has a diverse truck and trailer fleet on the road. Recently, the relationship with Krone was renewed, which will lead to the purchase of a number of new container chassis. The first of these are the Krone ELTU 70 BoxLiner container chassis. "We recently put the first of these into service and several more will follow," said Arjan de Bie, Director of Transport at LV Shipping & Transport Group. The replacement and expansion is part of a more extensive plan to modernize the company's fleet. "We already have a longer relationship with Krone. Krone has been producing container chassis for quite some time, the eLTu70 is a variant that has recently been built and that fits very well into our business operations," says De Bie. "These chassis are flexible, so-called center shifters and because of the flexibility and the patented Compact-heck the axle loads are easier to keep within legal limits," says Herman van der Kam, Manager LV Container Trucking. Versatile Lensveld's fleet now comprises some forty container chassis. Some of them are scheduled for replacement," Van der Kam clarifies, "but we also want to further expand the fleet." He explains that most of the destinations are in the Netherlands' neighboring countries. "There are even stricter requirements there than in the Netherlands. In Belgium, for example, there are a lot of checks on axle loadings. The permitted weights are different here than in the Netherlands. With Krone's chassis, we are guaranteed good, safe transport in every respect within the framework of local legislation. The same applies to transports in Germany." Besides container transports, LV can handle any kind of transport, whether it is distribution of goods or special transport with over-width, length and height. In addition to this road transport, LV has a ferry trailer operator on the UK and Ireland with ELVEX, again LV works closely with Krone. All rolling stock is maintained in its own workshop in Vlaardingen. More requirements De Bie and Van der Kam find that their customers' requirements are getting wider. "It starts with transporting a container and it ends with temporary storage, sometimes unloading and delivering the contents. In all cases, customers want to know more and more precisely where their cargo is at every moment of the transport operation," says De Bie. LV has invested heavily in its IT solutions and as a result can give all its customers insight into where the goods are, this is an ongoing process. LV Shipping & Transport also recently acquired a storage facility on the Maasvlakte. The DC was set up at the request of many relations, not least because of the uncertainty brought about by Brexit. "The DC measures 12,000 square meters, this is something we expect to be able to handle for the time being. Containers can also be picked up or brought there at night, this offers LV and its customers a lot of flexibility."
