Separate things, we like to see that driving in front of our camera. Throughout the year we try to photograph a lot of beautiful old machines that are still in operation. When you are at such a machine, you sometimes hear from the farmers or contractors what is still in the region. We received a tip this summer that there would still be a Laverda swath mower working in the area around Zuienkerke (B). So said so done, we went on our way. We found the still active Laverda AFC 150 swath mower with the Pittery farming family. Already in the 60s the family is familiar with the cultivation of alfalfa and today they still grow the alfalfa. Both driver and machine have already had a whole working career, but are still in top condition! In a previous life, De Laverda worked at the loon en constructiebedrijf Van Besien from Houthave (B), where he was mainly used in the pea harvest and in the cultivation of beet seed. In 1967 the first Laverda swath mowers were manufactured, later this model, the AFC 150, was introduced to succeed the AFC 110. More can be found on http://www.deoudedoos.be
