Schlüter Eurotrac van Schluterfan

Schlüter Eurotrac | Picture made by Schluterfan

"Vorserien Euro Trac!" What do you do if you want to release a brochure of a new type of tractor, but you only have a prototype, which actually looks far from what you really want to put into production? Then you just build a pre-series! Well, series? At Schlüter, that is of course another word that they have to think about. But still Schlüter actually built a kind of pre-series of the Euro Trac. It consisted of 3 tractors, each type 1. And why do I speak of a pre-series? Those tractors still have details, which you do not see in the "production EuroTrac's". The tractor on the picture is such a "preseries Euro Trac"! In this case the smallest of the 3, the 1300, here even without an additive LS. The 3 tractors were allowed to play model for the first range of leaflets of the Euro Trac. And 2 of the 3 were actually working at the Schlüter Feldvorführung of 1993, where this picture was taken. And those details? The front series of tractors all 3 have both the engine of the front and the rear wiper at the top, and also use a kind of "parallel" windscreen wiper. Also, the windows did not yet have the lock that allowed the windows to be put in a fan-through position. The rear window also did not yet have a through hatch for any cables from other machines. The 1300 also had an exhaust where the muffler was not visible. Whether the tractors still had those details at sale is unfortunately still unknown to me, since I have not yet come across any of the 3 tractors (the 001tjes). The 1300 is not the "updated" prototype that Schlüter first went to the fairs with. The tractors differ too much for that. Enneuh, the prototype still drives around today. He did get the roof like this tractor. That tractor also had serial number 823 001, and was "zugelassen" as Euro Trac 1300TVL! It is also the only Euro Trac that did not have a load circuit. The red color on this tractor seems to look a bit like Bordeaux, but I think it is a deception, since it is in the folder in "normal" red. With the arrival of the Euro Trac, it was also decided to change to lack on a water basis, because it could be used much more environmentally friendly. Photo: C.P.
