International transport and moving company Drent from Ureterp, Friesland, recently deployed an LZV combination for transports to Scandinavia. Drent transport sees the added value of the Ecocombi mainly in the increased volume that allows him to combine multiple shipments. Both the dolly and the closed semi-trailer were supplied by Krone. ,,We do a lot of removals to Scandinavia. Often these are full loads but sometimes they are smaller consignments that we combine. This applies to both the outward and return journeys. Taking care of removals to Scandinavia is a niche market and we specialize in it. We often work together with other movers who do not drive to the North themselves," says owner Willem Drent. He and his partner Djoeke de Vegt started the company in 2007. Since then, the fleet has grown steadily to its current size of five combinations. Ecocombi The possibility of driving an Ecocombi through Germany offers new opportunities for Drent. ,,Sometimes we have complete loads but often we combine several removals and general cargo. By using a motor vehicle with a skip and tailgate and the dolly with trailer, we now have a third more volume available. That makes us even more flexible. We have an area in Oslo where we can do transshipment and where we can hitchhike. There are also drop-off containers there which allows us to plan particularly efficiently. With the new Krone Ecocombi, we expect to be able to act even more decisively in our niche market''. Rigid Krone dolly For the new Ecocombi, Drent chose Krone because of the experiences with that brand. We have excellent experiences with the Krone organization and the product. In addition, this brand already has a lot of expertise in house for the approval of 'Langfahrzeuge' in Germany. In consultation, we opted for a rigid dolly with a slewing ring. That turns particularly smoothly and, moreover, that is a requirement in Sweden. By means of the Krone DWC system, the axles of the semi-trailer are partially relieved in bends. In combination with the Scania truck with the steered trailing axle, this ensures that we stay neatly within the German turning circle of 12.50 meters. The combination is built completely in accordance with German requirements, with all additional safety systems such as a rear-view camera''. Krone Dryliner The closed semi-trailer is a Krone Dryliner Li, and that stands for lightly insulated. The semi-trailer is 280 cm high internally and has three rows of tie rails integrated into the walls. The semi-trailer was built entirely at the Krone factory in Lubtheen. The rigid dolly is equipped with extra-wide 445/45R22.5 tires. At Drent's special request, the connections of light and air have been moved to the rear of the dolly in Boonstra Transport's workshop. ,,This prevents all those hoses from always hanging against the headboard which makes it look sloppy''. Furthermore, Drent Transport had the wheels painted in two colors and the combination was provided with the attractive advertising of the company. Appearance is important for Drent Transport and the result is a beautiful combination, especially in combination with the beautiful Scania R650 Highline truck. This was delivered by Scania dealer Rinsma in Drachten.
