In the 80s, IMT built articulated tractors up to more than 500 hp... was this the nail in Schlüter's coffin? In the 80s IMT started to build articulated tractors itself, and then it was done with the export of the heavy Schlüter tractors to Yugoslavia... Instead of importing a Schlüter Profi-trac 5000 TVL, she built articulated tractors (M-F license) at IMT up to 517 hp! How many of these behemoths - IMT 5500 - with a Daimler-Benz V 12 turbo engine with almost 21 liters of capacity are made is not known, but not much... The same engine (but without turbo) was built in the type IMT 5360 with an output of 360 hp. Here on the picture is the type IMT 5265, with a 265 hp V8 engine from Daimler-Benz shown. Yugoslavia has been schlüter's most important export country (500 pieces total) but that was a long way off. In Europe, the IMT articulated tractors have remained unknown, probably because there was no market for them at the time.
