Photo of a New Holland T 6050 busy moving the mobile washer. With this machine the potatoes are rinsed and read before they go on the truck towards the chips factory. We grow with a group of growers for the lays and thus own two mobile washers that go from yard to yard to wash the potatoes there to be delivered. Last week at my place the last barn emptied with the variety vr808. The potatoes go through the cistern into the rinsing drum where they are washed. When they come out of the drum they go through a flat hedgehog belt, to remove the last of the foliage/sprouts, through the reading pen where there is room for 2 people. There are always 2 people in there to throw out the wrong potatoes and to make sure there are no "foreign objects" among them. We take about an hour to 5 quarters of an hour for a truck of +- 35 tons. Often 4 or 5 trucks are done in a day.
