Photo of a Massey Ferguson 7475. First cut of chopping of 2021, here 1 of the reasons why we have made the choice to chop. At 1 km more than 2 silage wagons of chopping grass with a rake of 8.5 meters working width. We would never be able to reach the capacity of the chipper with loader wagons. Also, with such dikes it would be more tired, I think. This was mowed with Ascension day and a day later most of it was on the hump within 24 hours, no sun, test result 16/17%ds. It would be a crappy pit but we have never milked as hard as we do now. In short, I am certainly not an opponent of a loader wagon, but sometimes chopping is just the best option. Higher capacity, in this case necessary due to the weather. More compact so less mixing. More grass in the silo. Easier compaction.
