March 26, 2022 Photo of a John Deere 6120M with Kverneland chicory machine. Photo taken just before the tractor started its first job. New tractor of contracting company Hage. Nice and light manoeuvrable sowing puller with a variable transmission. I think John Deere has brought a nice tractor to the market. Nice luxury and yet lightly built. Sowing chicory is done very lightly. You have to make sure that they are up to a mm or 7 deep and preferably on the solid ground. That is, of course, a difficult combination. We often prepare land for chicory in 2x. For this tractor there are 2 tanks. 1 for Kerb and 1 for liquid row fertilization with phosphate. Both are used with us. The kerb to keep weeds in the row and the phosphate, so that the plant is well developed early on and resistant to the inevitable herbicide spraying that will take place. Now, 2 weeks later, most of the seeds are clamped. I hope they come up soon, before the topsoil becomes a hard crust.
