Photo of a Ford 6640. Had some time today for this special tractor. SEM engineering based in Basildon Essex has always had a fascination for county tractors. SEM was an independent company that was a dealer of Ford cars and trucks. They also repaired a lot of damage to cars and trucks. When a truck was overturned around the corner with Ford tractors, SEM was the first to arrive and asked if they could repair the tractors. They did this so well that Ford asked to do more of this. The Ford factory did not have time for that and so it happened that SEM went to work for the Ford Factory. They also had a building where Eric May was head of engineering. From his brain also the 7810 originated. Then he started in the early nineties to develop an even-wheel tractor. That was based on a Ford 6640. Eric wanted to base this on the technique County used, but Eric wanted to mount the axles more towards the bottom of the belly of the tractor to turn sharper. The study began with the 6640 with a dummy front axle. A hollow pipe in the shape of a banana. In the end, Eric had to deal with the problems that county also had. And the project was stopped. I also didn't know it had gone that way, hadn't really read this article yet. So that this one was for the wet and swamps is not true . Photos are from Classic Tractor. Then I also mentioned the source right away.
