Photo of an Unknown onion harvester This is the homebuilt 3m harvester of Loonbedrijf Hopmans. Apologies for the blurred picture. We still sow the onions on 1,50 beds. Our tractors are also on that track width in the summer and there are still quite a few harvesters available should one break down. Spraying is done on 2.25m tracks because the sprayer cannot be narrower than 1.80m. Then one track goes straight through a bed the whole season. For that reason the spray tracks are harvested with the 3m harvester and normally the rest with 1.50m harvesters. This year for the first time everything was lifted with the 3m harvester. Half as many swaths to load. Maybe we like it so much that it will stay. It will be extra busy in the barn, the tippers will be full in no time.
