Massey Ferguson 165 van PieterA

Massey Ferguson 165 | Picture made by PieterA

About 1978 Photo of a Massey Ferguson 165 with front loader, misriek and driving ladder. Building a shed. My father and uncle were mf-men. Approximately in 1970 an MF 135; later exchanged for an MF 165; needed for the 2-scissors Cappon. Later another 135 and finally in about 1981 a new 565 F. After that it went on with the MFs; but stopped it with the brothers. Until the end of the 70s, the horses still had their function within the company. My father was from the tractors and my uncle was from the horses. My uncle was from the cows and my father was from arable farming. I think the brothers farmed over 40 hectares in the end and had about 25 cows with accompanying young cattle. They were in their late 30s when my father and mother emigrated from Walcheren to Tholen. My uncle also has a son and my parents did not like 2 cousins in 1 company. My parents were married for 50 years last week and my aunt and uncle certainly visit my parents every month. I can't remember everything exactly from that time, but the 165 had a sirocco cap and jacket in winter. If it wasn't too cold I rode on the fender. When it got colder, the gearbox was the better place. I can't remember that this barn was built at the 2nd company house, but I remember that I built a snowman and that grandpa still saw it. Grandpa died when I was in kindergarten. I'm sitting here on the tractor, but whether I was allowed to operate the front loader here I doubt, although my father and uncle were crazy enough for it. I remember that I regretted that I had to go to school at a later age (4), because then you missed a lot of what happened at the company. My uncle kept the 165 at our departure and maybe he is still on my cousin's farm (who eventually became a farmer instead of my nephew) but I hardly think so.
