Oct. 10, 2022 Photo of a New Holland TM 135 with Vaia 16-ton trailer. The last carts that still fit in our own custody. Melody's. The plot was 450 meters from the barn. The harvester was a Grimme Varitron 270 2-row harvester with driving unloading bunker. I was standing in the barn and could just keep up with the harvester with unloading. The harvester could keep driving and I could keep unloading. At this distance, 2 carts were not enough. Every 10 minutes a tipper to the hopper. The harvester drove 8 - 10 km per hour. Including turns on the headland, we did about 69 tons per hour gross from 0.8 hectares. These are staggering numbers to me. Usually, the tender is a little quieter with a two-row harvester. The night before, I got the Varitron 470. That also drove 8 km per hour. Of course that was impossible to keep up with; a cart full every 5 minutes. On our light soil, harvesting under ideal conditions is not a big deal.
