Massey Ferguson 690 | Picture made by PieterA

Nov. 10, 2022 photo of a Massey Ferguson 690 with Votex? 190 flail mower. The joint flail mower was still attached to the MF. That suited me just fine, then I didn't have to pick up. The 690 2 wd is known for its hiccupy lift, but mostly for its uncontrollability on the road. I can handle it well, as we drove MF ourselves until a few years back. The people who rode it with me can't, so then you just have to drive it a little easy. The tractor got new narrow tires last year to fold early consumer potatoes haulm. My neighbors are traditionally real John Deere people, but by now they have also had this tractor for about 12 years I guess. You mustn't underestimate the amount of picking at our farm. You want your normal daily work (washing bulbs) to continue. We use the Fiat 880 and Deutz-Fahr 85 with the 10 and 12 ton dump trucks and the telescopic handler for that. Also the bulb peeling, sorting and reading must go on as much as possible (3 forklifts). Here we went to harvest chicory in wak weather (TM with dump and 120 with dump) and then also immediately sow seeds (6190 TTV and forklift) To mow the edges I could have taken the T7.190, but I found it convenient that there was already a tractor in front of it. In an autumn like this, on our soil (which you shouldn't let get wet after the harvest)you pick up the flail mower like this 10 times in one autumn. If you count all the hours of picking up and setting up the machines, I think we have about 500 hours a year. That's why we invest a lot in additional machines. My father's ideal image was a tractor for each machine; then you get the most work done per person (himself) in a day. Later with staff, it became more like arithmetic. That tricky repacking could be done in a few words (someone else would do it). Now, with interns and Saturday helpers and a wife who is also quite busy (household, children), I try to estimate what we are going to do in the coming week and then try to plan which tractor needs to be at which location for which machine. Another tractor might come in handy in the future.
