Drainage at our home around 1988/1989. Our plots are 200 meters by 1000 meters, most drains in the polder are then 200 meters long across. Van Kessel was of the opinion that longitudinal drainage was better, so they made them at 700 meters length, because the back part of that plot was once lowered to remove a layer of sand. Result: after 30 years these drains are still running, better than the drains of 10/15 years old that are 200 or 100 meters long. Also never cleaned.
