Feb. 24, 2023 Photo of a Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 85 working on drains. I was forwarded this photo by the intern who was working with the combination. In all our fields there are tubes or hoses under the ground every 3 -12 meters. They are between 45 cm and 1.5 meters deep. They slope down to the ditch and drain excess water from the plot. Sometimes these drains suffer from deposits of rust or dirt around or inside the tube. We try to remove this dirt by using a drain cleaner to push a black polyethylene hose into the drains. While inserting and extracting the hose, water under a pressure of 20 bar is sprayed into the drain tube. You put the machine in place. Then you hydraulically position the arch with the hose in front of the tube and start the program of feeding. When the hose is a little way into the tube you turn on the pump. The drains are almost as long as the plots.In our case they are up to 330 meters. The hose from the machine is 350 meters long. We try to clean the drains every 5 years. Unfortunately, this does not succeed because I do not give it enough priority. I don't do this work myself and don't want to hire a person especially for it. Another factor is that there is too little water in many ditches. We then place a truck with about 4 cubic meters of water. Then we fill it up with the field sprayer; so there are often two of us working on it.
