The rain seemed endless last months. Yet this week, over a month later than hoped, we were able to sow the beets. Sunday the ground was still far too wet, Monday it dried reasonably quickly, so Tuesday we started sowing. The seeding itself went above expectations. This plot has been planted with green manure that was plowed in the fall. Shortly after plowing, the first preparation for the spring was made with the harrow. This year, the TTV was allowed to do the seeding. It is a lot more maneuverable than the 6190 and the slightly shorter wheelbase helps. Sowing is done at about 4 km per hour. Head harrows are tuned to about 5 cm deep. We try to keep that as shallow as possible, so as not to work up the greasy wet soil. We have the tires down to 0.5 bar. Anything less won't work, because then they get too flat with the machines in the linkage. We sow the beets in one pass, a harrow in front and a harrow behind with the beet seeder behind. This seeder can sow either 3 meters or 6 meters. We prefer 3 meters, because this way we can do everything in one pass, to leave the soil alone as much as possible. Wednesday everything was sown, yesterday the pills were already torn.
