Got the tedder out of the barn today. I had already noticed that a universal joint between the elements had fallen off. Apparently a clamping bolt had come loose, no problem, simple to fix. Point is that you have to slide the universal joint on in folded position and the clamping bolt has to be tightened in unfolded position. I had slid the universal joint into place but when unfolded it slid off again and got between the hinges leaving the cylinder with some stroke left. See the result here. A little whacking with a plastic post hammer and it was straight again.
