Kramer U800 van Kramer U800

Kramer U800 | Picture made by Kramer U800

Photo of two U800s in the port of Huizen. On Saturday we had participated with bijde Kramers in oldtimer festival Huizen. It was a race against the clock, because last weekend the front axle was still completely disassembled and on Friday the front axle still had to be assembled and a first test drive had to be made, the latter at 9 pm. Everything was perfectly fine and no oil leaks or setbacks, so it could be done yesterday. Yesterday both machines made it through again without any crazy things, so we can start getting ready for Panningen. On the picture you can clearly see the difference in wheelbase (650 mm) 2150 mm vs. 2800 mm, and the difference in year of construction; 1962 (one-piece windshield) and 1961 (front in 2 parts with a center post). My U800 is the only one in the Netherlands with a long wheelbase and also the old type of cab. In addition, it is one of the last U800s delivered with the old type cab (late December 1961). In 1962, Kramer immediately switched to the Kögel cabs with one continuous windshield. The difference in body length is also clearly visible. But of course, both machines were put together totally differently by the customer. Both Kramers have a gearbox and portal axles of the 50'er type, which was only changed in 1964 to the 80'er type. The dark green Kramer is of course not ready yet, the rear is and technically everything is almost ready, the engine was already pretty good and only deserved a thorough service, the gearbox has been checked and play has been removed everywhere. The front and rear axles have been removed and completely dismantled and the brake system has also been completely overhauled. In addition, the cargo box is partly new back on, the rear fender is also new. There is also a hitch under it for a trailer.
