Extended weekend, so I can continue working on Brutus. Also a much needed intervention were the heater hoses. I had already had to shorten those a few times or put pieces in between. The rubber dried out and cracks appeared, resulting in leaks. This afternoon I threw out the old stuff and put in new ones. In retrospect, it wasn't too bad, although the beginning was difficult. Those guys in the factory who had to do it daily, well daily..., at the time there were still 2 to 3 tractors a week from the Montage🤦♂️ department, must have known the tricks of the trade... 🤣 Cabin bearings in the rear also got new ones. The bolts were rusted on the bushings, so that meant cutting the bolts and lifting the cab high enough to get the bushings out of the joints. There was quite a lot of play on the rubbers, so the knocking of the cab is obvious again 😅. But das fixed now too. I also completely renewed the complete electrical installation I made on it in my younger years for the work lights and such, not because I had to, but twas just a mess.... and since making cable harnesses is no punishment for me, I did everything new and a lot more professional. The lights in the switches all work now. Before, only the lights and the alarm switch were on. Now they are all lit, including the gauges. Some of them were not connected or the bulbs were defective. Now I am in the process of installing an oil pressure gauge in the dash, then all the holes provided are in use 😄. To be continued!
