May 22, 2023 Photo of a Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 120 mk3 with VHM Scrapr. trenching potatoes. Finishing a field goes like this: With the 85 on narrow wheels, we pull trenches from the spray tracks to the ditch with the Peecon trench cultivator. The GPS lines of milling are loaded into the sprayer (this 120). The spray tracks at the head ends where often no potatoes are planted as well as the corners are slightly rotated with the levelling plate far down. Then the Scrapr is hitched up. For this machine you actually need GPS, Variable Transmission and 3 electric proportional valves. The last 2 are not on this tractor, so that is always a bit of a struggle. I set the disc right at its deepest and adjust the Scrapr in the direction of travel and transverse to it so that the soil is distributed as neatly as possible. I often drive the trenches 2 times - the first time at about 6 km per ur; the 2nd time at about 15 km per hour. After this I sometimes drive the cultivator with 3 chisels behind each wheel the places where I have to cross the beds with the sprayer. Finally, I then drive in the spray tracks on GPS. All in all this takes me about 3 days on 5 fields. Especially because I often only finish off 1 or 2 plots at a time, because I want to have it ready before the rain for the soil herbicide spraying. This year, these measures have ensured that no more potatoes were drowned in July-August (still about 100 tons I think). And that we were able to harvest on time in October. We finished harvesting potatoes in 3 days.
