Schlüter Compact 750 van Schluterfan

Schlüter Compact 750 | Picture made by Schluterfan

Among the approximately 120 Schlüter tractors that can be found in Belgium you will also find this one. This tractor belongs to a comrade who is also somewhat "passionate" about the Schlüter brand. I went with him to the 110th anniversary of Schlüter in Freising and had to visit him to arrange the "trip" and could take some pictures. The tractor in the picture is one of the 2 Compact 750 tractors he owns. Both are in 2 WD execution and therefore quite exceptional! The tractor in the picture is one of the 3rd generation and is even rarer, because including the Compact 750V tractors (so with 4WD) and tilting cab, only 35 have been sold. How many were built without 4WD is not known. The Compact 750 is a tractor with spirit, because it is common knowledge that the 3 and 6 cylinder engines from Schlüter have a lot to offer, and even bite a little more than a 4 or 8 cylinder in line! Because a Compact 750 turns at 2000 rpm, it runs a little faster than an 850 with the same gearbox. Such a thing reaches a top speed of 37 to 38 km/h, which was quite exceptional at the end of the seventies, especially in standard execution. So I also had the chance to be able to "test drive" a 3-cylinder 750. The ideal place there too, because the tractor is driving in the Flemish Ardennes, which in Belgium is known as very hilly. Despite there being no fluid clutch in this (was option on the Compact tractors in the 70s/80s, later standard) you couldn't get this thing to die. With a fairly characteristic sound you can hear these little tractors coming from afar too! Besides this 750, the owner also has a Compact E4000, which is a Compact 750 in export version, also without front-wheel drive and without cab. This tractor too will pop up on TF in the future. Near Poederlee (Belgium, province of Limburg) there is another Compact 750 like this one, but with 4WD. This tractor I have yet to visit, as it is currently under restoration.
