Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, a Claas ETRION 400 at AgroTechniek Holland 2012 in Biddinghuizen. '' Sometimes you have to think a little further : ''Think out of the box'' to force developments. That is the background of this CLAAS project. The ETRION 400 is a design study for the future, created by CLAAS POWER SYSTEMS (CPS). It is neither a tractor nor a prototype. Etrion stands for Electric Drive, Tracks (tracks), Red (wheels), ION (from the Claas family name. 400 is an indication of power. Currently, almost half of CLAAS combines are delivered on tracks. That traction concept is continued here, but combined with wheels to simplify turning on headlands, with tracks raised. In addition, this concept offers the possibility of limiting the transport width to 3 meters. Both wheels and tracks are electrically driven. The electric drive can be combined with a conventional internal combustion engine (hybrid), but also with a fuel cell. Perhaps solar energy can also serve as an energy source for propulsion. Operation and control is done remotely and in combination with GPS technology. Here sensor technology will play an important role. '' Explanation of the sign which stood by the machine. Not a prototype, so move to ETRION 400!
