Schlüter Locomotive! The big Super's, especially anything running above 180hp is in high demand among enthusiasts these days! It was the big baron farmers who bought such heavy tractors in the 1980s. At Schlüter, these were mainly 2000, 2500 and 3000s. The tractors then mainly did plowing work, although they were sometimes too clumsy for that. I remember a story of someone who knew, or had known, a German who had one of those big 240hp Schlüter tractors. In addition, he had another John Deere of 200hp that if he could, took on the plowing. If it was wet, or the ground was too hard and the other farmers asked him what he was going to plow with, he said he was going to take out his "Locomotive". So after a while most of them wondered what that locomotive really was. Answer, Schlüter Super 2500VL! And if you couldn't plow with that one, you couldn't plow with anything he said promb :D. Meanwhile, many years have passed and these types of tractors disappear mainly to rich collectors, and usually behind lock and key. So I did have to search pretty deep in my archives for a picture of this type of tractor, despite having seen a few. The photo shows one of the 4 locomotives owned by Emonds from Boekel, who fortunately doesn't put them away! This photo is from a fellow enthusiast, who took them in the milenium year 2000. At that time Schlüter was the theme of the BTM oldtimer show. Despite being a belgian show, some 43 Schlüters could be counted on then! Photo: W.B.
