John Deere 5830 | Picture made by XC 70

Loon - en grondwerken Oorts from Wijnegem harvests their very last corn with their John Deere 5830 and assisted by New Holland TM 155 with Ova . After 42 years they stop harvesting maize , this all started in 1974 when Jos Oorts bought a John Deere 5460 with 3-row chain jaw . This was replaced in 1985 by the first 5830 with 4-row chain jaw. In the early 90s the chain jaw was replaced by the current Kemperbek 4500 . In 1997 suddenly a big noise , an alu tube went through it and the whole shredding system shattered , perpetrators were never found . That same day the chipper was replaced by the current 5830 which will now leave the European mainland and start a third life in Africa. All other pay - and ground work they still continue to perform . I thank the Oorts family for the many years of fun and especially Paul Oorts . see also video
