Schlüter Oldtimers van Schluterfan

Schlüter Oldtimers | Picture made by Schluterfan

"Schlüter baut die großen vier!" 1964, Schlüter organizes its first "Feldvorführung". One that would have many more successors. By the way, still today. As a "Highlight" on this, or at least one of the first field days was the S900V. Even though Schlüter offered these tractors for sale with the optional 4-wheel drive from the very beginning, it would take more than a year after the introduction of the regular 2-wheel drive version before the first tractors were delivered with this (then still quite expensive) option. Some customers were over the delivery deadline of a good year before that.... The Grossen 4 consisted, as it is written, of 4 tractors, the S350, S450 (as I have one), S650 and S900. All available from 64-65 with 4WD, and thus with a V after the type if this option was chosen. At that time, Schlüter also received the moniker "Bärenstark". The S900V had to prove itself. With a 4-scissors in the lift it would be too easy. So the factory staff coupled an S650V with a 3-scissors in neutral (!) to the 900. A 7-scissors behind a 6-cylinder, 80-hp tractor, that was a lot more spectacular! Disadvantage of this then spectacular combination? The problem with the S650V was that the engine had to be kept running so that the control hydraulics of the lift could do its job.... Many visitors had their doubts whether the S650 pulled or not That the S900 turned out to be a "bärenstarken" Schlüter was also clear from the numbers that Schlüter sold after the effective introduction of the S900V, about 90% were equipped with this option after July '65. With the 3 other S'jes this (expensive) option turned out to be less wanted, so most were sold as 2wd versions. In the picture one of the first S900Vs, with already the final front axle, a ZF GLA 3350, which Fendt also used Photo: TUM
