Photo of a Claas Xerion 5000 along with the already mighty JD9520R, not many tractors that can match that. Comfort, power and reliability has JohnDeere way ahead. They need to get that right at Claas, Claas' technology and ideas on the other hand are very promising. The Vario can't beat a powershift with pressure and precision, the 4 wheel steering is much more stable on steep slopes than the ''articulated'' tractor, and the visibility on and around the machine is great, including the lighting. Also, there are drawbacks... The steering wheel regularly locks up, steering wheel does nothing at all. The steering cylinders are just about 5cm in diameter which controls the wheels individually. Hydraulic steering is a bit stiff, not as smooth as it should be. These are the bigger things, there are plenty more ''small'' things. This is on top of an 8,600ton ''drive over'' corn hump, along with a JD9520R. 1 tractor does mostly the pushing and polishing, the other the driving.
