july 19, 2016 Photo of a New Holland 8060 busy threshing grass seed. We bought this combine after the previous combine (a 1545) burned down. I estimate about in 2005. It has a 6-cylinder gord engine on it. The cutterbar is 15 feet (4.5 meters) The tank was too small to thresh a round on many plots, so we enlarged it a year after purchasing it. The clutch goes stiff, this combined with the larger tank I believe was the reason that a threshing shaft has already snapped once (on the first day in the threshing season of course🙈). Here we are threshing grass seed which has been cut with a windrow mower. The capacity then is about 0.6 acres per hour. This machine has little loss in grass seed (mainly because of the windrow) and threshes very cleanly. We basically thresh about 35 acres every year with this machine. Her has also been around 80 acres for a few years and when we had 2 combines it averaged only about 15 acres. The crops we thresh with it today are wheat, liatris seed and grass seed.
