Feb. 20 photo of a The Pink Innovation Pink 1.50 Rooier. Top view of the rear section of the tulip harvester we use to harvest tulips from nets into cubic boxes. Last 2 years when harvesting we had problems with too much soil in the cubic boxes of bulbs. The bulbs with a portion of loose soil came over the wide green belt to the back, then bumped over a gap -adjustable in width- and then entered the crate via the last short belt. You set the slit so wide that not too many small balls fell through and as much soil as possible fell through, because then it was lost. In this way we lost almost all soil on the heavier ground, and on the lighter ground about 90% of the soil fell through. The 10% of soil that still went into the box was too much. Building in an original set of Pink rollers to reduce the last amount of soil was not an option for us, because of the construction-technical difficulties and because these are only small rollers, which also clog up relatively quickly with soil. We could still place one roll without major structural modifications. This stainless steel roller with a slightly larger diameter of 89 mm is 25 mm lower than the wide tire and the last tire is even 25 mm lower. Also, the roller rotates more than 10% faster and the last belt even 10% faster. The extra roller has its own hydraulic motor and the gap width before and after the roller are both adjusted equally with 1 lever. We hope in this way to get significantly less soil in the box during the next harvest in June/July.
