oct. 19, 2021 Photo of a Holmer chicory harvester. This machine was modified by contracting company Hack to load chicory on land and concrete. We are often a bit wary of dumping on the headlands, because the bearing capacity of the soil on the headlands at our place is often poor. Mouse works to a certain schedule. As a grower, you have to make sure in advance that your chicory is on the heap. We dump the chicory in a long back. On our light soil, a mouse is not necessary. If they came with a crane the heap could be a lot more compact. Some soil is still being turned out now, but it's mostly chicory tips that are left in the yard. It did go better this year than previous years. I think this was due to the finer mats mounted on the mouse this year.
