Claas Jaguar 695 Mega | Picture made by MMaarten

In itself a not so special photo, but a very nice story behind it. In September, I was able to photograph this Claas Jaguar 695 Mega and interview the owner for our fall special from the old box. The machine belongs to contractor Filip Godefroid from Heurne (B). A few years before, we saw the harvester for the first time at the International Working Days in Oudenaarde, near the home base of contractor Godefroid. The machine stood there among the oldtimers and briefly came into action when some other oldtimer harvesters were allowed to get to work. In the months that followed, we set out to find the owner of the chipper. Through word of mouth we found out who owns the chipper. The main activities of the contractor are mainly harvesting and planting potatoes, corn is not part of his job. Nevertheless, the machine was purchased many years ago as a hobby. Since then, the machine has come out every year to chop some acres. We had missed the machine before, but this year was our year to see it. With an appointment made, we went into the region, but due to a lot of road works and the typical obscure Belgian road diversions, I was a bit late for the appointment. Friendly as they were, they waited for me to chop a few more passes. After chopping, I was able to talk to the owner to get some information about the machine. The chopper was purchased in 1992 by contractor De Pourcq from Astene (B), who also happens to be an acquaintance of the contractor. A little later, some silage trailers passed by the field where we were standing. They were Fendt tractors with Dewa silage wagon, immediately my "contractor radar" started working and I quickly thought of De Pourcq. When we were wishing each other good day and the Claas Jaguar 695 Mega was leaving, I suddenly noticed that contractor De Pourcq was tilling a field of corn in the background. Quickly taking some pictures and that gives this nice result. There is 20 years of harvest history in here! The old generation meets the new generation. Http://www.deoudedoos.be
