photo from the book "from gear to chip" of agricultural mechanization. the mechanization of the potato harvest made a rapid step forward: this was mainly due to wider and longer sieving webs and by increasing the space between the bars. this went well until a number of mild winters when the small potatoes that were sieved out did not freeze to death. they caused so much storage that a permanent potato crop arose. the Van der Meer brothers came up with the idea of crushing the potatoes so that they did not form a new plant. the harvester in the picture is an amac, for which the conditioner was specially made and built, but that folder does not do it, type is ek 2
