Bedford TK van ILPERAVO

Bedford TK | Picture made by ILPERAVO

Photo of a Bedford TK, built up for bulk transport of alumina or alumina powder tbv aluminum production in Delfzijl. [ALDEL] Alumina or alumina powder is processed bauxite from which aluminum is extracted in Delfzijl. Built: 3 units ca. 1966 - 1967 by ILPERA NV. Location: Zijperstraat 26 Alkmaar. Fully hydraulic vehicles. Hydraulically driven engine with a hydraulic - pneumatic filling device. Designed for the aluminum plants at Delfzijl. [ALDEL] These vehicles automatically loaded the raw material - alumina powder - for aluminum production, and transported it from the filling station under the silo to the smelting halls and by means of air pressure blew the alumina powder into the electrolysis furnaces. The existing engine was dismantled so that the remaining space made room for a dump chute at the front of the truck. A different make/type of engine was installed on the chassis a/d rear. See: https://www.truckfan.nl/picture/1052392/ Alumina powder is super light and Compakt, the specific density is high and therefore can be propelled and/or transported fairly easily with air pressure (pneumatically). Aldel, filling the furnaces with alumina powder was done in 1983 with the vehicle below. Today, ALDEL has an application through a point feeder system, a central piping system that refills the electrolysis melting furnaces. http://delfzijl.all.biz/productie-van-aluminium-g1010#.V3vlxRIat-I Text functionality research. Hyperdense alumina transport The alumina-filling trucks used to transport alumina from the dry-air cleaning silo to the electrolysis furnaces are being replaced. The new transport system has been developed by an organization (one of the largest aluminum smelters in Europe). The new system has the name "hyperdense" (literally: super dense), and works with a system of pipes. Prior to being transported through the pipes, the alumina is made more mobile via a slight overpressure (due to the inclusion of air between the alumina grains). The system has the advantage of low maintenance and operating costs https://www.rug.nl/research/portal/files/10275080/h6.pdf Page no.51 Nov. 7, 1996 197
